Redox Properties of Trinuclear Osmium Carbonylhydride Clusters with Unsaturated Ligands

Abstract:Schemes of redox transformations were proposed for osmium carbonylhydride clusters: trinuclear (mgr-H)Os3(mgr-CR = CHR')(CO)1 0 (R = R' = H, Ph; R = H, R' = Ph), (mgr-H)2Os3(mgr3-L)(CO)9 (L = C = CHPh, CHequivCPh), tetranuclear CpMnOs3 (mgr-CH = CHPh)(mgr-H)(mgr-CO)(CO)1 1, and trinuclear Os3(mgr3-C = CHPh)(CO)9. Two-electron reduction of the trinuclear clusters results in elimination of the unsaturated ligand with preservation of the metal framework.
