Abstract: | Summary 1. The lignin has been isolated from the stems of the cotton plant of a late period of vegetation by the hydrochloric acid method. The elementary composition and functional groups have been determined. The mean composition for a C6-C3 structural unit has been determined.2. By the oxidation of a powder of the stems of the cotton plant with nitrobenzene in the presence of alkali it has been established that the hydrochloric acid lignin is more condensed than the DLA.Institute of the Chemistry of Plant Substances, Academy of Sciences of the Uzbek SSR.
