Abstract:Transition metal ion complexes in which 2-methylsulfinylpyridine N-oxide acts as a bidentate ligand have been prepared and characterized by molar conductivity measurements as well as IR and electronic spectra. Crystal field parameters are calculated for the Cr(III), Co(II) and Ni(II) solids based on octahedral symmetry from solid state spectra. Optical electronegativity calculations indicate that the charge transfer bands are metal-ligand in nature.
