Possible isotope enrichment due to resonance trapping in a recombining plasma

The effect of resonance trapping is shown to produce a transient isotope enhancement of specific charged states of a low abundance isotope during the recombination and decay of a highly ionized plasma by reducing the recombination rate of the more abundant isotope. Such an effect might lead to an efficient isotope separation process, particularly for low vapor pressure elements.
