Noncoherent deconvolution

A noncoherent optical system has been devised to perform deconvolution. A transparency of a bar chart convolved with a Gaussian function is operated upon by a set of suitably weighted Young slits positioned in the entrance pupil of a camera lens. The resulting image shows some degree of deconvolution with a measurable increase in edge slope. Microdensitometer tracings of convolved object and deconvolved image are presented.
