Abstract: | An increase in the concentration of photochromic N,N′-diacetyl indigo in glass-like poly(methyl metacrylate) within the range of 0.1–0.5 mol.% is accompanied by a decrease in the rate constant of thermoisomerization of the photoinduced form, which is explained by the formation of molecular assemblies that change the properties of the medium. A threefold plus increase in thermoisomerization of the photochromic compound in samples with a high concentration has been revealed with an increasing duration of photoirradiation. The phenomenon can be used in optical image processing, e.g., contrast inversion. Belarusian State University, 4, F. Skorina Ave., Minsk, 220050, Belarus.
