Abstract: | An algorithm was developed for calculating the extent of an arbitrary reaction () between the analyte and the titrant at a reagent ratio (f) varied in the course of titration. The algorithm takes into account the equilibrium constant of the reaction and the initial concentrations of the reagents. The algorithm predicts the distortions of the titration curves due to the incompleteness of the chemical reaction; these result in systematic errors of titrimetric determinations with instrumental control. It was found theoretically that, in some cases, such distortions should manifest themselves to the greatest extent far before the equivalence point rather than in the vicinity of it. |
