Progress of Method Development for Inorganic Element Analysis of Human Hair and Their Applications

The concentration of inorganic elements in human hair is higher than that in fluids and tissues, thus it is easy to be detected. Time and spatial information can be provided by human hair for a long time. Through analyzing the contents of inorganic elements and isotope ratios in human hair, the changes of elements in a certain period of time and migration of human geographical position may be explained and reflected. Pre-treatment and instrument analysis methods of inorganic elements in human hair were reviewed, focusing on the applications in environment, medicine and forensic research. The future prospects of technology development and application were also discussed in this paper.
