| Abstract: | An asymmetric synthesis of the aminocyclopentitol pseudosugar of trehazolin has been completed. The synthesis hinges on an asymmetric aldol-ring closing metathesis strategy to construct the five-membered ring with control of both the relative and absolute stereochemistry. |
