The effect of the high surface roughness in a comparative process

Comparative measurement methods are used to compare the behaviour of two macroscopically identical but microscopically different object surfaces. The roughness of these surfaces can have any value. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate theoretically as well as experimentally, the effect and the limitations of the high surface roughness on the visibility of the difference correlation fringes obtained in comparative processes.
