| Abstract: | The first intermolecular Friedel-Crafts acylation of a variety of aromatic substrates with azetidinones is described. The Friedel-Crafts acylations are performed under very mild conditions, using trifluoromethanesulfonic acid to produce beta-amino aromatic ketones in excellent yields. |
