Abstract: | A study was made of the influence of high-density current pulses on twinning of bismuth single crystals by a concentrated load at temperatures of 77–530° K. Twinning was stimulated by current pulses throughout the investigated temperature range and at high temperatures these pulses widened the interval of twinning temperatures. The electroplastic effect in twinning appeared most clearly at low temperatures. The temperature dependences of the quantitative characteristics of twinning had three regions in which there were considerable differences in the qualitative pattern of the distribution of twins originating from indentations.Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Fizika, No. 7, pp. 29–33, July, 1980. |
