For an outsider innovator in a Cournot oligopoly,the optimal size of licensing by means of fixed fee is given.This optimal size is determined by the industry size and the magnitude of the innovation.The threshold level of oligopoly size,by which the innovator can choose fixed fee licening or royalty licening to maximize his profits,is also given.Lastly,an numberic example is given to illustrate the optimal number of fixed fee licensing.
