Abstract:Chromium(III) is oxidized to chromium(VI) at room temperature or by conventional persulphate oxidation. The chromium(VI) is separated from other metal ions by retention on a small anion-exchange column, and then eluted with a perchlorate solution and measured spectrophotometrically with a flow-through cell. The method is rapid, selective and amenable to automation.
