| Abstract: | Novel liquid crystalline 3,6-disubstituted cyclohex-2-en-1-ones and 1,4-disubstituted 2-chlorobenzenes are presented. The method of transformation of cyclohex-2-en-1-ones into chloroarenes in a one-pot procedure, together with the nature of the mesomorphic phases and some physical properties of single compounds and nematic mixtures comprising them are reported. |
