Abstract:
Extraction of lanthanides by means of a mixture of tri-n-butyl phosphate and di-n-butyl butylphosphonate
The extraction of praseodymium and Ytterbium with mixtures of tri-n-butylphosphate and di-n-butyl butylphosphonate dissolved in CCl4, C6H6, and ethylisobutyl ketone has been investigated. The experimental results lead to the conclusion that besides simple complexes as for instanceMe(NO3)3·3S1 andMe(NO3)3·3S2 mixed complexes of the typeMe(NO3)3·2S1·S2 andMe(NO3)3·S1·2S2 are also formed and consequently lead to an increase of the distribution coefficients. In this case, the relationships
and
will be valid for the extraction. It is assumed that these relationships will change with the use of other solvents for extraction.
