Abstract: | The total rate constant for the reaction of Cl atoms with HO2NO2 was found to be less than 1.0 × 10?13 cm3 s?1 at 296 K by the discharge flow/resonance fluorescence technique. The reaction was also studied by the discharge flow/mass spectrometric technique. k1a + k1b was measured to be (3.4 ± 1.4) × 10?14 cm3 s?1 at 296 K. The reaction is too slow to be of any importance in stratospheric chemistry. |
