Quantum effects in intramolecular energy transfer

Anharmonic potentials which are presumed to be classically quasi-ergodic, but which have symmetries leading to degenerate quantum states, fail in the quantum case to transfer energy equivalently among rigorously equivalent phase space locations. This is shown using simple group theory and is illustrated for the case of the Henon-Heiles potential
