Abstract: | In this paper, by using a special matrix factorization, a symbolic computational algorithm is developed to solve the cyclic penta-diagonal linear system. The algorithm is suitable for implementation using Computer Algebra Systems (CASs) such as MATLAB, MATHEMATICA and MAPLE. In addition, an efficient way of evaluating the determinant of a cyclic penta-diagonal matrix is also discussed. Two numerical examples are given for the purpose of illustration. |
