| Abstract: | We show here that row-reducing a quantum matrix produces another quantum matrix satisfying the same relations as those of the original quantum matrix ring Mq(n). As a corollary, the image of the quantum determinant in the abelianization of the total ring of quotients of Mq(n ), equals the Dieudonné determinant of the quantum matrix. |
