Abstract:The nccessity of online schedule modification in batch plants is firstly developed. A new performance measure assessing various schedule modification algorithms is persented, which synthesizes the effect of batch wait time and unit idle time on economic benefit. Secondly, the online modification algorithm POMA based on prediction is put forward for short term scheduling, which overcomes the myopia of the traditional methods. being able to purpopfully modify the start time of sequencing batch processes. In order to test the effect and robustness of POMA, many simulations have been done. The result shows that POMA is efficient and of strong robustness. Tn view or its simple principle and convenient implemention, POMA is of high value to the practice on batch process optimal scheduling.
