Abstract:Magnetic circular dichroism (MCD) and absorption spectra of 4,5-benzotropone and thiophenoc]tropone have been measured. The n→π* forbidden transitions of both compounds are assigned by using the theory of Seamans et al. J. Am. chem. Soc. 94, 6464 (1972)].
