Abstract: | The particulate matter (PM) fouling in exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) coolers degrades the heat transfer performance considerably, which in turn has a significant influence on the design of the EGR cooler. To investigate the effects of PM fouling on the heat exchange effectiveness in the fin-type EGR coolers of six different sizes, engine dynamometer experiments were performed. The experimental results show that the heat exchange effectiveness varies with the size of the fin-type EGR cooler. |
