A robust near-wall elliptic-relaxation eddy-viscosity turbulence model for CFD

Abstract:An eddy-viscosity model based on Durbin’s elliptic relaxation concept is proposed, which solves a transport equation for the velocity scales ratio View the MathML source instead of View the MathML source, thus making the model more robust and less sensitive to grid nonuniformities. Computations of flows and heat transfer in a plane channel, behind a step and in a round impinging jet show all satisfactory results.
