| Abstract: | Based on the potential flow theory and linearized free surface condition, a generalized variational principle for nonlinear solid-liquid systems in which the finite deformation of the elastic solidembedded in the liquid is taken into account is presented. It can be seen that the existing variationalprinciples are just special cases of what obtained by the authors. The principle proposed would providea basis for deriving a variety of numerical methods to solve the nonlinear solid-liquid interaction problems. |
