The 1H and 13C chemical shifts for some tetrakis(para-substituted phenyl)ethylenes

The proton and carbon chemical shifts for a series of tetrakis(p-substituted phenyl)ethylenes are described. Assignments followed routine substituent chemical shift trends. Both proton and carbon chemical shifts ortho to the varying substituent follow the empirical parameter, Q. The ethylene carbon chemical shifts are proportional to those at the position para to the varying substituent.
