Formation constants and thermodynamic functions for some bivalent transition metal complexes with p-sulphono-salicylidene-sulphanilamide

Abstract:No potentiometric work on complex formation with the Schiff-base p-sulphono-salicylidene-sulphanilamide (p-SUSASUD) has appeared. This paper describes potentiometric studies of complex formation by Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) with the Schiff-base ligand, p-sulphono salicylidene-sulphanilamide in aqueous medium at a constant ionic strength (μ = 0.1 M KNO3). The metal ligand stability constants and thermodynamic parameters like ΔG, ΔH, ΔS and thermodynamic stabilization energy (δH) have been determined at 30 ± 1°C.
