| Abstract: | The reaction of 3-formylchromones 1a～1h with hippuric acid gave condensed compounds, chromon-3-yl azlactones 2a～2h, which underwent hydrolysis to afford β-(substitutedchrmon-3-yl)- α-alanine derivatives 3a～3h. |
