Abstract: | Based on an asymmetric 1,2,4‐benzenetricarboxylic acid (H3btc) and 2,2′‐bipyridine (bpy), a new CuII complex, Cu2(H2btc)4(bpy)2 · 8H2O ( 1 ), was synthesized and structurally characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, hirshfeld surface (HS) analysis, IR spectroscopy, powder X‐ray analysis, thermal gravimetry analysis (TGA), magnetic susceptibility, EPR measurement, and UV/Vis spectrometry. Complex 1 shows a dinuclear copper structure. The CuII of each dinuclear moiety are in a slightly distorted square‐pyramidal environments. Magnetic susceptibility of 1 shows a ferromagnetic coupling between both metal atoms. The interaction of 1 with bovine serum albumin (BSA) is investigated using UV/Vis, fluorescence spectroscopic methods. The CuII complex shows strong binding propensity in albumin binding study. |
