| Abstract: | [reaction: see text] An expeditious convergent route to the ABC-tricyclic core of the phorbol esters is described. The chemistry capitalizes upon both inter- and intramolecular reductive coupling processes promoted electrochemically and via the use of samarium diiodide. |
