Abstract: | The activation free energy for electron transfer in solution or at electrodes is correlated to the corresponding Franck—Condon determined reorganization free energy Rm for photoelectron emission. Excellent to fair agreement is obtained between the activation free energies predicted from Rm and experimental values. Data are given for V2+, Cr2+, Mn2+, Fe2+, Co2+, and Fe(CN)4?6 in aqueous solution. |
