| Abstract: | The electronic spectrum of fluorenone has been studied by means of “molecules in molecules” calculations. Five π-π* transitions can be definitively assigned in the near-ultraviolet region. The electronic properties of the first singlet excited state obtained from solvent effects on the absorption and fluorescence bands are compared with the theoretical results. |
