A study of the reactions d + p → τ + π0 and d + p → τ + η0

The reactions d + p → τ + π⁰ and d + p → τ + η⁰ were studied using the missing-mass method for incident deuteron momenta between 2.8 and $\text{3.8}\text{GeV}\text{c}$. The angular distributions show a peak in the forward direction ($\text{θ}{}_{\mathrm{\tau }}{}^1\text{= 0°}$) and are flat in the backward direction. The differential cross sections at $\text{θ}{}_{\mathrm{\tau }}{}^1\text{= 180°}$ for both reactions show a maximum for total center-of-mass energies near 3.46 GeV.
