Abstract: | A novel Biginelli‐like cyclocondensation reaction is efficiently catalyzed by iodotrimethylsilane (Me3SiI) in MeCN. The reaction proceeds at room temperature by a three‐component one‐pot condensation of ketones with aldehydes and urea to afford 5‐unsubstituted 3,4‐dihydropyrimidin‐2(1H)‐ones in good yields (Scheme 1 and Table). |
