Abstract: | Using the saddle-point method, asymptotics of time evolution for spatially localized three-dimensional intrinsic disturbances are determined. Criteria of absolute instability are established for the case of a branching dispersion relationship. Calculation results for the regions of existence of instability for a flat-plate boundary layer forRe→∞ andM=10 are presented.
