| Abstract: | A set of sufficient conditions is formulated for the integer quantum Hall effect to occur in a system of independent electrons in a random potential on the surface of a cylinder of finite length with perpendicular strong magnetic field. The relation to previous formulations of related conditions and recent numerical results is discussed.Dedicated to Professor W. Brenig on the occasion of his 60th birthday |
