Research on furan compounds

Pressure hydrogenation using Raney nickel or ruthenium on charcoal, of secondary and tertiary -furylalkanols is described. The products are the corresponding homologs of 1, 6-dioxaspiro4, 4]nonane and tetrahydrofuran alcohols, the relative yields being determined by the structure of the initial furan alcohol and the type of catalyst.For Part XXXII see 1].
