Abstract: | Information on the nature of traps in CaS has been sought by studying the TSC behaviour in a range of samples. Results are in agreement with those reported previously and suggest that the TSC peak at 308 ± 3K is independent of the nature and concentration of dopant. Evidence is presented which indicates that surface states are responsible for the currents rather than the release of trapped charge from states within the band gap; the source of the charge carriers is uncertain. Simultaneous TSC and TL measurements on CaS:Ce, Cu indicate that the TL peak at 300K and the TSC peak at 308K are mutually independent. |
