h.c.p.-f.c.c. phase transition in solid parahydrogen

Abstract:The difference of free energies for the h.c.p. and f.c.c. parahydrogen is calculated as a function of molar volume. It is shown that the observed transition in solid parahydrogen1 can be explained by differences in the structure of the cubic and quartic anharmonic terms.
