Non-isothermal kinetics of CoOOH decomposition

Abstract:The non-isothermal 'kinetics of the decomposition of CoOOH powder has been studied derivatographically in a temperature range of 20–450 °C in air. The reaction proceeds in two stages: up to about 280°C with an activation energy E1 = 38–50 kcal mol?1 and above that temperature with E2 = 20–25 kcal mol?1, depending on the kinetic equations which are employed. The results have been critically discussed on the basis of certain current concepts.
