| Abstract: | A new general method is presented for calculating rms displacements and velocities of an arbitrary system of atoms performing harmonic oscillations. For illustrating purposes, the rms displacements of atoms in a particular crystal lattice model are calculated, including foreign atoms in subsurface regions of the crystal. |
