| Abstract: | The phenolic coupling of halogen-containing ferulic acid and methyl ester derivatives was examined with particular reference to the synthesis of lignans of the aryltetralin and tetrahydrofuran classes. (±)-Isolariciresinol dimethyl ether (18) and (±)-veraguensin (27) have been synthesized. |
