Abstract:A novel fabrication technique of long period fiber grating was proposed, which is fabricated with periodic modulation of the refractive index of the core by heating and tapering the fiber with periodic V grooves. The experimental results are presented in good agreement with the theoretical analysis. The long period fiber gratings are likely to be as broadband rejection filters for WDM systems.
