Abstract: | The title compound is formed as a side‐product in the reaction of CF3CCl3 with Zn/DMF and dimethyl(thexyl)silyl chloride (=dimethyl(1,1,2‐trimethylpropyl)silyl chloride). The structure and the double‐bond configuration are deduced from its 13C‐NMR data. Its formation is discussed in terms of a Vilsmeier‐type formylation and a reductive elimination. |
