Preparation and biocidal properties of mixed butyl/cyclohexyl trialkyltin carboxylates

Two series of trialkyltin carboxylates containing butyl and cyclohexyl groups on tin, Bu_nCy_3-nSnO₂CR (n = 1, 2; R = n-Pr, Ph, 4-CIC₆H₄, 4-NO₂C₆H₄) have been synthesized and their structures characterized by IR, and ¹¹⁹Sn and ¹³C NMR spectroscopies. The compounds are five-coordinate, carboxylate-bridged polymers when R = n-Pr, while the other aromatic carboxylates are four coordinate. The compounds were also tested for their fungicidal, insecticidal and acaricidal activities.
