Poly(organophosphazenes)--unusual new high polymers.

An inorganic-backbone high polymer system based on alternating phosphorus and nitrogen atoms promises to solve many of the problems hitherto associated with conventional organic polymers. The chemistry, structure, biomedical, and technological aspects of these polymers are reviewed.
