| Abstract: | A new indole alkaloid, arbophylline, possessing a novel heptacyclic cage skeleton, and incorporating an acetal function, was obtained from the Malayan Kopsia arborea. The structure was established by spectroscopic analysis and a possible biogenetic pathway from an akuammiline-type precursor is presented. |
