Abstract:The effect of spin-orbit interaction on the magnetic susceptibility of Zn and Cd in the presence of exchange and correlation effects has been investigated using a pseudopotential formalism. The spin-orbit contribution to the magnetic susceptibility gives a significant diamagnetic contribution as predicted.
