Comments on possible new three-generation Calabi-Yau manifolds

Abstract:We present the observation that the new Calabi-Yau manifolds suggested by Aspinwall et al. and Candelas et al. do not admit the appropriate freely acting discrete symmetries needed to give to three generations.
