Determination of the phase structure of the four-dimensional coupled gauge-Higgs Potts model

Abstract:Using Monte Carlo simulations the phase structure of the four-dimensional N-state gauge Potts model coupled to Higgs fields is determined. A three-phase diagram is established. In the Z(2) case, a first and a second-order transition lines are present. For Z(5) and Z(10) only first-order transition lines appear. The results are consistent with previous mean field predictions.
